Questions
What is the difference between this and a dating coach?
A dating coach teaches strategy — what to say, how to present yourself, when to text back. attach. trains something underneath that. It's not about tactics. It's about noticing what you actually do when someone pulls away, moves too fast, or gets genuinely close. The goal isn't to perform better. It's to react differently, automatically, because the pattern has changed.
Is this therapy?
No. The Guide names patterns and asks uncomfortable questions. She does not diagnose, treat, or replace a licensed therapist. If you're working through something serious, do both — what happens here can be useful material to bring to a real session.
What happens to my data?
Everything stays on your device. Your profile, sessions, and conversation history are stored in your browser's local storage — nothing is sent to a server or stored in the cloud. You can reset all your data from Settings at any time.
Who are the characters?
Six AI characters, each modelled on a distinct attachment pattern. Milo and Nova are conflict avoiders — they pull away when things get real. Marco and Sera move too fast, love too hard. Kai is genuinely available, which is harder to be around than it sounds. Ren reflects your own patterns back at you. Each pattern comes in both a male and female version so the scenarios feel plausible regardless of who you're attracted to. They're not personas or chatbots. They're behavioural specifications designed to activate specific responses in you.
Who is The Guide?
She runs every debrief. She reads the transcript of what just happened, names the pattern, connects it to your attachment profile and schema history, and sends you out with one concrete thing to try offline. She is not a therapist, a friend, or a character you practice with. She's a clinical lens — honest, direct, and not particularly interested in making you feel better if the truth is more useful.
What is a contact score?
A 1–5 rating The Guide assigns after each session, reflecting how present and open you were during the conversation. It's not a grade. A low score doesn't mean you failed — it often means the scenario activated something real. The score is a signal to track over time, not a verdict on any single session.
How do I graduate?
When your average contact score reaches 3.5 or above over five sessions, graduation becomes available. It means the tool has done its job. You're not being rewarded for compliance — you're being recognised for having built enough capacity that you don't need this as much anymore. That's the point.
How long does a session take?
Around 10–15 minutes in the app. Eight turns with a character, then a debrief from The Guide. She'll also give you an offline challenge — something to take into real life before your next session. That part is yours to sit with.
Why is there a waiting period between sessions?
We ask you to wait 20 hours between sessions. Not because the app needs time — because you do. The offline challenge is part of the work. Stacking sessions back to back without integrating what happened turns this into content consumption, not practice.
Can I use this if I'm already in therapy?
Yes, and it often works well as a complement. Therapy gives you insight and language. This gives you reps. What you notice here — which patterns came up, which moments were hardest — can be worth bringing to your next session.
Is this for people who are single?
Yes — it is for everyone. And if anything, being in a relationship often makes the work more urgent. The patterns don't disappear when you find someone. They intensify. attach. is for anyone who wants to change how they show up in close relationships: with a current partner, an ex they're still processing, a friendship that keeps following the same arc, or the person they haven't met yet.
Why only AI characters and not real people?
Because the goal is practice, not performance. With a real person, the stakes include their feelings, their judgement, their interpretation of you. Here, the only thing that matters is what you notice about yourself. The AI characters are consistent, patient, and don't need anything from you — which makes them better training partners for this particular kind of work.
